Gramophone company limited gesar9/1/2023 ![]() ![]() 10th Street, gramophone production at 1026-1028 Filbert, and the nation’s first record store at 1237 Chestnut Street.ġ896 was a momentous year for the company: they became the Berliner Gramophone Company, and they teamed up with Eldridge Johnson who improved upon the designs of the gramophone and sound quality of the disk record. The company was successful enough however to have open some factories in Washington, before making the move to Philadelphia, opening offices and a recording studio at 424 S. For one thing, the Gramophone did not have a spring windup system yet Berliner would have to wait a couple more years until Eldridge Johnson solved the problem for him. Berliner founded the United States Gramophone Company in 1894, and brought the product to market, but not without its faults. These men included, William Sinkler Darby, Fred Gaisberg, Joseph and Zip Sanders, Raymond Gloetzner and Werner Seuss. ![]() Eventually, Berliner had enough investment in his idea that he was able to hire employees and teach them the recording process of capturing sound to disk. ![]()
